SOMETIMES IT’S IMPORTANT TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH YOUR INNER CHILD

Untitled

BYE BYE BALLOON!

It was the day of my birthday party

I wore my brand new clothes

I felt incredibly excited

From my head down to my toes

The house looked really special

That sunny afternoon

And in the middle of it all was

A beautiful big balloon

My friends all came to see me

And we played that afternoon

With prizes, games and laughter

Near the beautiful big balloon

A happy birthday song was sung

I blew the candles out

And made a wish in silence

Just then someone gave a shout

The balloon they cried! It’s broken loose

We tried to run and catch it

But a gust of wind blew it away

And our speed just couldn’t match it

Up the balloon went into the sky

Such a beautiful bright blue

We watched in awe and saw it

Disappearing out of view

I thought about the wish I’d made

To never lose what’s dear

I should have been more careful

And kept my balloon always near

I cried that night at bedtime

As gran tucked me into sleep, she said

“We all must learn to let things go

That aren’t possible to keep”

She told me that my special balloon

Had seen all sorts of wonder

It wouldn’t have been able to

If it hadn’t gone asunder

The seaside and the seagulls

The clouds, the trees, the stars

The animals and aeroplanes

The markets and bazaars

My balloon went on an adventure and

I’m glad that it could see

All the amazing things in the world -

Maybe one day that will be me.
